i am trying to use this theme in an arabic website, but have problems with ie6 when flipping direction to rtl.
any suggestion?
That looks pretty awesome! Thanks for using the AveK9 theme =) My best suggestion would be to use a conditional stylesheet for IE6. Here’s a good link on how to do that… http://css-tricks.com/how-to-create-an-ie-only-stylesheet/
I know it’s a pain in the butt, but that’s probably the best way to about handling that issue. Then again, if your IE6 user base is relatively small — say, 6% or less — I probably wouldn’t even bother. Hope that helps!
Hey,
Thanks for sharing the awesome AvenueK9 theme. Do you have any handy tutorials as to how we can create a featured posts slider like the one you have on your website frontpage? Its one of the nicest ones I’ve seen on a buddypress website.
Regards,
Kunal
Thanks Kunal =) This part of the site is actually just built on regular WP. The members section is obviously WPMU, but we launched this site a little over a year and a half ago, so BP wasn’t around then. Anyway, this link will take you to the jquery script I’m running on this site. It’s got a small foot print and is easy to configure.
Thanks for the link Mike. I have seen that tutorial recently but I didn’t realize that its the one you used as yours looks so different (namely the 3 posts at once as opposed to just 1 per slide). Btw, does that plugin work with the jquery version that comes bundled with WP?
I guess that since you were using regular WP before, the different sections are just categories and not separate blogs?
I have been struggling with trying to figure out how I can feature certain posts from certain sub blogs on my front page.
Thanks for your help. Good luck with your website!
No prob =) Yeah, the plugin should work with the wp’s jquery lib. You’re also correct on those categories. I thought about revamping this site into an MU site, but since WP and WPMU will become one down the road, it just makes more sense to keep it as is. Then, when the MU functionality comes — probably through another WP upgrade — I can utilize those different blogs. As to pulling stories from different blogs to your homepage, there’s always the RSS way. Just hook up to your category feeds and you’ll be able to display them anywhere using code snippets like gAjax RSS Feeds Displayer =)
Thanks Mike. These are all good ideas and I am going to experiement with them for my first buddypress project. Ill keep you updated.
Hi everyone !
I’m writing here because i’ve just installed the new buddypress and Avenue K9 1.1 and i saw that the first widget doesnt appear and the 2 others are not horizontaly aligned.
From where could it come ?
Thanks in advance

Hey JNE94 – If you want to display all 3 columns, just go ahead and delete this line from style.css within the AvenueK9 theme folder…
/* Default theme styles */
@import url( _inc/css/layout/home-page/3c-right.css );
it’ll also fix the alignment issue
Mike, quick and successful answer! Thank you from Paris !!!
